Hi I'm Bobby Lyons, your friendly neighborhood UX designer.
I am a young designer eager to put my education and knowledge to work and create beautiful and accessible designs. I excel in interaction design, information architecture, and data visualization. I possess the ability to apply established styles and leverage established patterns. I would bring with me a solid understanding of research techniques and best practices for both blank-slate initiatives and on projects for established platforms and products.
When I’m not seeking out problems to solve, wireframing, sketching or fiddling around on illustrator I write music. Music has been a passion of mine since I picked up a violin at age eleven. Since then I have self released hours of music and toured around the country performing with my guitar and my best friends.
Early in my career as a musician I would find myself in need of designs. Posters for shows or tours, t-shirt designs to sell, album artwork etc. I always had a do it yourself type of mentality when it came to art. So I decided to learn a new skill set. I took a class on photography and photoshop as a freshman in highschool and began creating. I spent hours learning how to manipulate images and eventually translate ideas onto a screen. People began taking notice of show flyers I would make. I began working with other bands to create content for them and their projects. This quickly became a little hobby of mine as I never imagined it could turn into a career path. My focus was always on my music, my band, my branding and school.
I attended college at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where I slowly chipped away at my BA in marketing. I wanted to capture people's attention and I thought I could still accomplish that but through a different medium. After school I moved to Portland, OR where I always felt inspired to create. I worked as a musician and as a bartender to make ends meet. When the pandemic hit I realized I wanted to shift career paths and turned my attention back to design.
Visual elements on a screen or a page have always caught my attention thus giving birth to my passion for design. I love the idea of problem solving with my passion.
